Changemakers Collective - Collective Inheritance

OUR VISION

We believe that that the work of social change is incomplete without the hearts, minds and voices of entire communities of people at the grassroots. Our aim is to create a more inclusive social change sector - one that is capable of bringing about long-lasting systemic change and wide-scale social impact.

OUR MISSION

Our work is underpinned by the Collective Inheritance Framework for Collective Wellbeing, and its four pillars:

  • Unity in diversity | We understand diversity, in all its forms - culture, thought and lived experience - to be a strength that we need to harness, in order to forge a shared vision for wellbeing that every single person can contribute to.

  • Dialogue and mutual understanding | We seek to build understanding and reconciliation across societal divides. We take an intercultural, interfaith, non-partisan and pluralistic approach towards social change.

  • Collaboration | We believe that the best solutions are forged when people of diverse strengths come together and we seek to do this by enabling meaningful participation at the grassroots and supporting the social change sector to work collaboratively, in partnership with communities.

  • Individual and Collective Empowerment | We seek to nurture social change leadership at the grassroots, amplifying the voices of marginalised communities with lived experiences of the issues we are trying to tackle, and advocating for the inclusion of communities in the decision-making processes that affect them. In addition to our professional development and mentoring programs for aspiring changemakers and marginalised communities, we also offer consulting and professional development services to community and not-for-profit organisations, government agencies, businesses and services seeking to improve outcomes for marginalised individuals and communities.

CHANGEMAKERS COLLECTIVE is a joint VENTURE BETWEEN THE SHOSHAMA INSTITUTE FOR COLLECTIVE WELLBEING and THE SHOSHAMA FOUNDATION (Previously operating as light upon light foundation), and operates as a social enterprise.

Shoshama Institute for Collective Wellbeing is a purpose-driven educational enterprise with expertise in whole-of-community approaches to social innovation and curriculum development for diverse communities and global citizens.

Shoshama Foundation (previously operating as Light Upon Light Foundation) creates safe and nurturing communities that are rich with the opportunities a young person needs to grow and develop, through a joint focus on holisitic approaches to education, youth leadership and community development approaches.

As a social enterprise, 100% of our profits go back towards:

  • the ongoing development and delivery of our social change leadership programs

  • creating opportunities for employment/social entrepreneurship for people from marginalised communities, and mentoring and supporting them as they arise as leaders in their communities

  • running our Education, Youth Empowerment and Community Development projects in partnership with the communities that we serve
